Some updates to the Pfam website

January 16, 2018

Internet security has become an increasingly important concern for Web Browser and Software vendors. Support for Java applets has been dropped from many modern browsers and websites are being encouraged to move from http to the https  protocol for safer browsing.

To address these changes we have made a couple of updates to the Pfam website.

The Java Pfamalyzer Domain architecture search software can now be run as an application or local applet. There are detailed instructions on Pfamalyzer page which is under the “Domain Architecture” section of this page: https://pfam.xfam.org/search#tabview=tab3.

We have also enabled secure browsing on the Pfam website. This can be tested by visiting the site via this link: https://xfam.pfam.org.
